F1 movie sequel officially confirmed: Jerry Bruckheimer reveals thrilling plans after $630 million success

Revving Up for Round Two: F1 Movie Sequel Officially in the Works!

In a thrilling twist that has motorsport fans and movie buffs alike buzzing, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has officially announced that a sequel to the sensational F1 movie is in development! This comes on the heels of the blockbuster's astonishing triumph at the global box office, raking in over $630 million since its debut in June 2025. With such staggering numbers, the excitement for a follow-up is palpable.

Bruckheimer, who has been at the forefront of cinematic hits, confirmed the sequel's existence during an interview with the BBC at the prestigious Academy Awards luncheon in Los Angeles. “We're working on a sequel,” he declared, much to the delight of fans who have been eagerly speculating about the next chapter in this high-octane saga. Reflecting on the film's production journey, he admitted, “It was a long journey to get the movie made because we had to endure a couple of strikes – but in the end, the movie entertained audiences around the world.”

The original F1 movie captivated viewers with its riveting tale of nomadic driver Sonny Hayes, played by the charismatic Brad Pitt. Hayes returns to the thrilling world of Formula 1 to race for the beleaguered APXGP team, overseen by his former teammate Rubén Cervantes, portrayed by the talented Javier Bardem. Together, they team up with rookie driver Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris, in a nail-biting quest for victory during the final nine races of the season. The stakes are sky-high: a failure to win could mean the end of the team as investors threaten to sell.

Adding to the film's authenticity, it was shot during actual F1 race weekends, featuring cameos from real-life drivers such as Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Fernando Alonso, and George Russell. Legendary seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton also lent his expertise as an executive producer, ensuring that the film resonated with true motorsport enthusiasts.

Director Joseph Kosinski has also expressed his enthusiasm for a sequel, revealing his interest in expanding the story further. “We're in that stage of just kind of dreaming up what that next chapter for Sonny Hayes would be and for APXGP,” he said. Kosinski emphasized the positive global response to the original film, stating, “It's something that people wanna see and I'd be happy to go back and do it because we had so much fun making this one.”

As anticipation builds for what promises to be another electrifying ride, fans are left wondering what challenges and triumphs await Sonny Hayes and his team in their next adventure. With the creative minds behind the original gearing up to bring the sequel to life, one thing is certain: the world of F1 cinema is far from finished, and the engines are just getting started!
