F1 ignites excitement: historic Portuguese Grand Prix returns to Portimao in 2027!

F1 ROARS BACK: Portugal’s Historic Grand Prix Set for 2027 Comeback!

In a stunning announcement that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport world, Formula 1 is gearing up to return to the sun-soaked shores of Portugal with the revival of the iconic Portuguese Grand Prix at the breathtaking Portimao circuit! Fans can rejoice as the race is set to kick off on a two-year contract starting in the 2027 season.

This exhilarating event is not just a race; it’s a monumental comeback! The Portimao circuit made headlines in 2020 when it hosted the first Portuguese Grand Prix in 24 years, filling in for events canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That historic race witnessed none other than Lewis Hamilton clinching his 92nd victory, shattering Michael Schumacher’s long-standing record of 91 wins that had been unchallenged since 2006. Hamilton continued his dominance in 2021, securing a second consecutive victory at this thrilling venue.

However, as the motorsport landscape shifts, it appears that the return of the Portuguese Grand Prix will coincide with the departure of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. After an impressive six-season run, the Dutch GP is set to exit the calendar following its 2026 event, making way for Portimao to reclaim its rightful place in the spotlight.

But that’s not all! This strategic move does not merely fill the void left by the Dutch GP; it also positions Portimao as a key player in the F1 calendar, as the Belgian Grand Prix will transition to a biennial format from 2027 until its agreement ends in 2031.

Motorsport enthusiasts should prepare for an adrenaline-fueled spectacle as the countdown to 2027 begins! Keep your eyes peeled for more electrifying updates on this thrilling return to a beloved racing destination.

Don’t miss a single heartbeat of the action—make sure to download your handy 2026 F1 calendar for all the essential dates, and gear up for the adrenaline rush that only Formula 1 can deliver! The motorsport world eagerly awaits the roaring engines and the breathtaking battle for supremacy at the Portuguese Grand Prix!
