George Russell, who overtook Norris to win the Formula 2 championship in 2018, believes it is inspiring for Formula 1 to witness Red Bull’s defeat for the third time since last season.

“I am genuinely thrilled for the young lad,” Ricciardo remarked.
“As teammates, you naturally get to know each other better, and I had the chance to get to know Lando well, even spending time together off the track. He visited my farm in Australia in January this year, so I had the chance to spend time with him, and I really like him.
“I believe many of us felt it was only a matter of time until he had a day like this, but nothing is guaranteed in this sport.
“I am delighted that he finally had a day like this, which will forever be one of the most memorable days of his life.”
