F1 Controversy Explodes: Jos Verstappen’s Fiery Critique of FIA’s ‘Sudden’ Rule Change

In a shocking turn of events, F1 legend Jos Verstappen has unleashed a scathing attack on the FIA for their abrupt rule change in the middle of the 2025 season. The controversy stems from the governing body’s decision to crack down on wing flex starting from the Spanish Grand Prix, a move that has left many in the racing world stunned.

Verstappen, father of reigning world champion Max Verstappen, did not hold back in his criticism, labeling the FIA’s decision as “stupid” and accusing them of benefiting McLaren. He expressed his frustration, questioning the timing of the rule change and suggesting it should have been implemented at the start of the season to ensure fairness for all teams.

The FIA, on the other hand, defended their actions by stating that the phased approach allows teams to adjust without unnecessary component changes. They emphasized the importance of maintaining a level playing field to promote fair competition and thrilling races for fans worldwide.

This is not the first time Verstappen has raised concerns about McLaren’s performance, having previously shared a clip of their controversial rear wing before the Bahrain GP. With McLaren currently dominating the championship standings, sitting over 100 points ahead of rivals Mercedes and Red Bull, the team is poised to defend their title successfully.

In the drivers’ standings, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are outperforming Max Verstappen, adding more fuel to the fiery debate surrounding the mid-season rule change. As the F1 season unfolds, tensions are running high, and the battle for supremacy on the track is only getting more intense.
