F1 Champion’s Car Engulfed in Flames at Imola Grand Prix: Aston Martin’s Terrifying Incident

In one of the most dramatic moments of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso‘s race came to a fiery halt as his Aston Martin suddenly burst into flames during a pit stop, sending shockwaves through the paddock and stunning fans watching live.

The incident occurred as Alonso—who had found a rare glimpse of speed this season, running inside the top 10 and preparing to challenge George Russell—entered the pits for a routine stop. What followed was anything but routine. As the mechanics swarmed the car, flames suddenly erupted from the front-left tire, with the brake assembly engulfed in fire in a matter of seconds.

Marshals and Aston Martin crew members reacted with lightning speed, extinguishing the flames before the blaze could spread further, but the damage was done. Alonso’s race was over, his car retired, and his hopes of a strong result in Imola up in smoke—literally.

There has been no official confirmation yet on the exact cause of the fire, though early speculation points to a brake overheating issue, worsened by intense usage and the tight braking zones around the historic Imola circuit. Aston Martin is expected to release a full technical analysis post-race.

Lewis Hamilton adds intrigue with bold words amid Imola chaos

As if Alonso’s fireball exit wasn’t dramatic enough, Lewis Hamilton turned heads with a cryptic yet powerful statement following a frustrating race of his own. While his Ferrari debut season has been under intense scrutiny, Hamilton’s post-race comment only fueled speculation about his mindset.

“Some things are happening behind the scenes,” Hamilton told Sky Sports, “and people will see soon enough.”

The seven-time world champion offered no clarification but appeared visibly fired up. With both Ferrari drivers failing to make an impact at their home Grand Prix, and tensions simmering across the grid, Hamilton’s remarks only deepen the mystery surrounding Ferrari’s struggles and internal dynamics.

F1 at boiling point

Between Alonso’s spectacular fire, McLaren’s dominance, and Hamilton’s bold rhetoric, the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix has turned into a weekend of high drama and headline moments. With the championship race tightening and emotions running high, the 2025 F1 season is hurtling toward a boiling point.

Stay tuned for more updates as the dust (and smoke) settles on one of the most chaotic weekends of the year. 🏁🔥🇮🇹
