F1 Champion Villeneuve believes that Hamilton needs to move to Ferrari for a new challenge.

Campeão da F1 Villeneuve acredita que Hamilton precisa mudar para a Ferrari para um novo desafio.

According to Hamilton, he anticipates being increasingly marginalized by Mercedes as he prepares to leave the team at the end of this season. He already acknowledges that his teammate George Russell, who will replace him, is getting the new parts.

Mercedes, officially, insists they will support their departing champion. However, they do not disclose how they will limit Hamilton’s access to sensitive information and will only inform him when necessary. This is a consequence of announcing such a significant separation a year in advance. The same applies to Carlos Sainz, who is leaving Ferrari to make room for Hamilton. The team will provide him with the necessary information.

During an interview with the Best Payout Online Slots media team, the 1997 F1 world champion Villeneuve commented on the uncomfortable situation between Hamilton and Mercedes: “Sometimes, you need new elements on your plate. The same taste repeatedly becomes boring. A move to Ferrari could bring a breath of fresh air for Lewis.”

Regarding Hamilton’s struggles, even compared to Russell in the other car, Villeneuve speculated: “Every driver has their preferences when it comes to their car. Max Verstappen will be fast in any car, but he will be even faster in a car that suits him.

“Lewis is in a situation where the car is not behaving as he expects. He is constantly doubting himself. This requires more mental effort in his driving, which can make him a millisecond slower.”

“It becomes incredibly challenging to set up the vehicle because you can’t identify the specific problem,” speculated Villeneuve, which may explain why Russell outperformed Hamilton (the most successful driver in F1 qualifying history) by 28-24 during their time as teammates at Mercedes so far.

In his most recent and unfiltered comment, Villeneuve risks: “To be frank, this started in George’s first season there, when he had the edge over Lewis. George has been a better driver than Lewis since his arrival.”

“Lewis has achieved so much, and when you’re not winning, it can be dull and frustrating. The same situation happened when Ricciardo joined Vettel. It made Ricciardo look exceptional that year. Vettel was tired and suddenly wasn’t winning.”

“He was trying to revolutionize his approach. Trying to reach that extra half second that wasn’t there and ended up going slower. Ricciardo was just focused on his own performance and ended up achieving good results.”

“We constantly hear that Lewis is experimenting with unusual setups and deviating from the standard because he doesn’t like being three or four tenths of a second behind, so he tries to figure out what’s missing in the car,” explained Villeneuve.

As for Hamilton’s possible replacement, Villeneuve stated: “Mercedes is not willing to offer a long-term contract to anyone because they want to reserve the seat for Kimi Antonelli. That’s their future plan, which they have been developing for years. They will make it happen.”

“There is no high-level driver who wants to join Mercedes. They are not winning, and there is only one year available. Maybe someone like Bottas could go there for a year,” suggested the only Canadian Formula 1 world champion.

The F1 heads to Villeneuve’s native race – at the circuit named in honor of his beloved father Gilles Villeneuve – the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, the ninth round of the 2024 World Championship. Russell holds seventh place with 54 points in the F1 drivers’ standings. Hamilton is in eighth place with 42 points, marking his final season as teammates at Mercedes.
