In the high-stakes world of Formula 1, the 2025 season brings not only thrilling races but also the looming threat of race bans for drivers accumulating penalty points on their Super Licences. With the risk of suspension hanging over their heads, the top drivers are walking a tightrope to avoid crossing the line.

The reigning champion, Max Verstappen, finds himself at the top of the penalty points leaderboard with a total of eight points. These points were accrued from a series of incidents spanning the 2024 and early 2025 seasons, including clashes with fellow drivers and violations during races.

Following closely behind Verstappen is Liam Lawson, who holds five penalty points due to his aggressive racing tactics in Qatar and Bahrain. Other notable names like Oscar Piastri, Nico Hulkenberg, and Jack Doohan are also treading carefully with four points each on their Super Licences.

The penalty points system in F1 serves as a crucial mechanism to ensure driver discipline and safety on the track. If a driver amasses 12 points within a 12-month period, they face an automatic one-race ban, a consequence that could turn the tide of the championship.

As the 2025 season unfolds, fans are on the edge of their seats, watching closely to see if their favorite drivers will manage to steer clear of any further penalties. With expiration dates looming for some drivers’ existing points, the pressure is on to maintain a clean record and avoid the dreaded race ban.

In the fast-paced world of Formula 1, every point matters, and the threat of suspension adds an extra layer of drama to an already intense season. Stay tuned as the battle for the championship unfolds both on and off the track, with penalty points shaping the fate of drivers vying for glory.
