F1 2025 Season Preview: Red Bull RB21’s Hidden Pace, Hamilton’s Reunion with Cullen, and Calls for V10 Engine Return

In the latest Formula 1 news, the Red Bull RB21 car is the subject of intense scrutiny following pre-season testing for the F1 2025 championship. Data analysis strongly suggests that Red Bull is concealing the real speed of their RB21 car, more so than their competitors. This comes after a disheartening performance in 2024, despite Max Verstappen bagging his fourth World Championship in a row despite a four-year winless streak. Pablo Hidalgo, our seasoned data analyst, has been poring over the events of the recent Bahrain test to gain insight into Red Bull’s true potential compared to racing giants Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes.

In other news, Lewis Hamilton, the Ferrari driver, has expressed his delight over the return of Angela Cullen to his close-knit team ahead of the F1 2025 season. Cullen, a key figure in Hamilton’s team during his golden years with Mercedes, has made a surprise reappearance following a sudden split at the start of the 2023 campaign. Hamilton, now preparing for his debut season with Ferrari, has stated that he has been “having a blast” since Cullen’s come back.

Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, has voiced his support for the reintroduction of V10 engines in Formula 1. Horner, a self-acclaimed “purist,” yearns for the “sound of grand prix racing” the V10 engines were known for. Last month, PlanetF1.com reported that the FIA is considering setting up a task force to assess the feasibility of bringing back V10 engines, last seen in action in 2005.

Damon Hill, the 1996 World Champion, has expressed a willingness to join a current F1 team in light of his departure from Sky F1 at the close of 2024. Hill, a significant player in Sky F1’s coverage since the acquisition of live F1 broadcast rights in the UK in 2012, left the broadcaster in December. He faced criticism last year following his disparaging remarks about reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen.

In a surprising turn of events, Carlos Sainz has dismissed the possibility of securing podiums or top-five finishes with Williams in the upcoming F1 2025 season. Despite a promising pre-season test in Bahrain, Sainz remains sceptical. Williams, who finished ninth in the Constructors’ standings in 2024, showed promise during the test, leading some to predict they could be the dark horse behind the likes of McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes. Sainz, however, is gearing up for his first season with Williams after a successful four-year stint with Ferrari, during which he claimed four victories.
