In a bold move that is set to shake up the Formula 1 world, Günther Steiner, former Haas team principal, has delivered a compelling piece of advice to the newcomer Cadillac team – “Only take experienced drivers. Perez-Bottas is the ideal choice.”

As the 2026 Formula 1 driver market gears up for action, Cadillac, making its debut in the F1 Championship, is on the lookout for two skilled drivers to lead its charge. With the grid set to expand to 22 drivers, the pressure is on for the American outfit to secure top talent.

Steiner, known for his no-nonsense approach, emphasizes the importance of having seasoned drivers at the helm, especially for a young team like Cadillac. He suggests, “If I were at Cadillac, I would look for experienced drivers. In a young team, the best approach is to grow with individuals who bring expertise to the table, helping the team progress faster than with rookies.”

Steiner’s endorsement of Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez as the dream duo for Cadillac raises eyebrows across the paddock. His strategic mindset, honed during his tenure at Haas, where he paired Nico Hülkenberg with Kevin Magnussen for a seasoned lineup, underscores the significance of experience in a sport as demanding as Formula 1.

With the driver selection for 2026 looming large, all eyes are on Cadillac as they weigh their options carefully. Will they heed Steiner’s advice and opt for the proven prowess of drivers like Bottas and Perez? Only time will tell as the F1 fraternity eagerly awaits Cadillac’s decision that could reshape the competitive landscape of the sport.
