The Director of Motorsport at Lola, Mark Preston, has announced that the renowned British manufacturer will be participating in Formula E until at least 2030. Despite the upcoming collaboration with Yamaha, who will provide a powertrain for the ABT team starting next season, Preston emphasized the importance of the highly efficient electric powertrain used by Lola. He believes that this technology will have exciting applications in various forms of high-level international motorsport in the coming years.
According to Preston, Lola’s involvement in the sport allows them to establish a distinctive electrified platform with a focus on software as the basis for their broader plans in shaping the future of automotive technology. Consequently, they are eager to continue investing in this area, especially as they anticipate a significant performance leap with the introduction of GEN4.
Furthermore, Preston revealed that Lola’s testing program for Season 11 will begin in a few days. The development of the GEN3 Evo car, with which they will compete in Season 11, is progressing well. Currently, their test car is being built, and they have scheduled a preliminary test in early June before official test days begin. Prior to that, they will also conduct a wide range of dynamic and drivetrain tests under the supervision of David Clarke, the Operations Manager. The team is excited to have real vehicles on track in the near future.
