The Formula 1 Exhibition is about to arrive in the UK for the first time and will open its doors in London on August 23, 2024.
The London ExCel Centre, renowned in the world of motorsport as the venue for the FIA Formula E London E-Prix, has been chosen to host the exhibition following successful previous events in Madrid and Vienna.
The inaugural show in Madrid took place in 2023 at the IFEMA exhibition center, which will once again be associated with F1 as it will host the Spanish Grand Prix in 2026.
In Madrid, the F1 Exhibition became Spain’s most important temporary exhibition in 2023 and showcased iconic F1 artifacts, including the charred remains of the Haas car that saved Romain Grosjean’s life in his horrific accident during the 2020 Bahrain GP.
After Madrid, the F1 Exhibition moved on to Vienna, Austria, and ticket sales recently surpassed the numbers achieved in Madrid as the torch is about to be passed to London.
The F1 Exhibition has also made its mark in North America, with the Toronto, Canada venue breaking pre-sale records.
“It has been truly amazing to witness the global response from fans since the exhibition opened last year,” said Timothy Harvey, Chief Curator and Producer of the Formula 1 Exhibition.
“London would always be an exceptionally special location for us, and I am excited for what is to come.
“Each show pays tribute to the national heritage of its hosting location, and with Britain being the birthplace of racing, this show will be truly remarkable.
“We also have some incredible additions reserved for London, including impressive cars. I can’t wait to welcome visitors through our doors!”
As expected, the F1 Exhibition in London will focus on the British Grand Prix and come to life with the help of the Silverstone Museum, a world-renowned interactive motor racing exhibition located next to the iconic British GP venue.
Properly, the F1 Exhibition in London will be the first to introduce simulators, right in the heart of the city where the F1 Arcade simulator experience was originally launched.
In addition, the exhibition will feature iconic images, videos, and interviews from the history of F1, delve into the mindset of past and present GP drivers, and educate participants about technological advancements in the sport.
“It is only appropriate to bring the F1 Exhibition to the capital of the United Kingdom and pay tribute to the British teams, drivers, and personalities who have left their mark on the history of F1,” said Emily Prazer, Commercial Director of Formula 1.
“The F1 Exhibition has gained immense popularity since its launch in Madrid, and its successful stops in Vienna and Toronto demonstrate that it is an exceptional way to engage both the most fervent fans and new audiences, while extending the influence of F1 beyond the track.
“London is one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the world, and we look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to the exhibition.”
