The first practice session for the MotoGP Catalunya Grand Prix in Barcelona saw championship leader Jorge Martin take first place with a quick lap on soft tires. However, Marc Marquez dominated the session for the most part, holding onto second place with a time of 1m39.871s. Brad Binder also had a great performance, finishing third and leading the KTM group. Tech3 Gas Gas rookie sensation Pedro Acosta impressed by finishing just behind Binder. Despite announcing his retirement from MotoGP, Aleix Espargaro managed to secure fifth place for Aprilia. It is worth noting that the session results may not accurately reflect the true pace of the riders, as it is considered the least relevant session in terms of raw speed.
