Throughout the first five stages of the championship, Norris consistently outperformed his teammate Oscar Piastri in qualifying, except for one race. In wet track conditions during the Chinese Grand Prix, Norris showcased his skills by securing a dominant pole position for the Sprint race.
Stella praised Norris for his dedication and hard work, which allowed him to make the most of the opportunities presented to him. The team identified areas for improvement, such as qualifying performance, and Norris worked closely with his engineers and with the support of the factory to make the necessary adjustments and fully exploit the potential of the car.
Furthermore, Stella highlighted Norris’ progress in race management, especially in understanding tire behavior at the beginning of the 2024 season. In Shanghai, Norris executed a strategic first stint, countering possible moves from Ferrari and gaining track position over Sergio Perez from Red Bull. Stella noted that Norris is becoming increasingly consistent and skilled at analyzing tire performance and race strategies.
