The average weekly price calculated by the Regulatory Authority for Energy Services (ERSE) recorded a decrease compared to last week, 1.2% for gasoline and 2.2% for diesel, the most used fuel in Portugal.
According to the ERSE report, the efficient price has been updated, “taking into account the weekly variation of the international prices of regular gasoline by -2.4% and regular diesel by -3.9%, as well as the update of the value related to the additional cost of incorporating biofuels in regular gasoline and regular diesel by -3.6% and -5.0%, respectively.”.
Thus, “for the week of February 26th to March 3rd, the Preço Eficiente before taxes is €0.844 per liter for regular gasoline and €0.932 for regular diesel. After taxes, the Preço Eficiente is €1.750 per liter for regular gasoline and €1.691 for regular diesel.”.
It should be noted that the efficient price is “a weekly average price determined by ERSE and is the sum of the following components: fuel prices in international reference markets and their maritime freights, primary logistics, including strategic and security reserves of the National Petroleum System, additional costs related to the incorporation of biofuels, and the retail component plus the respective taxes.”.
Regarding the previous week, the report states that “the average of the Retail Prices announced on the signs, and reported in the Energy Single Counter, was 1.2 cents per liter above the Preço Eficiente for that week, in the case of regular gasoline, and 0.3 cents above in the case of regular diesel.”.
In percentage terms, “regular gasoline was announced on the signs 0.7% above the Preço Eficiente and regular diesel was 0.2% above,” according to the report.
