Ericsson makes an impressive debut with his new team Andretti Global after setting the fastest lap time in the IndyCar pre-season tests. The tests took place over two days on the 1.67-mile short circuit at Sebring. Ericsson completed a lap in just 51.9512 seconds, surpassing all other drivers. Will Power and Pato O’Ward were the second and third fastest drivers, respectively. O’Ward had the opportunity to drive both his own car and his teammate’s car during the tests. Each driver had only one day to familiarize themselves with the new components, which included a lighter Aeroscreen and new gearbox components. The hybrid components, which have not yet been tested by smaller teams, were not used during the tests. Some drivers, such as Felix Rosenqvist and Romain Grosjean, took advantage of the tests to adapt to their new teams’ cars. Colin Braun also gained valuable experience in the Dale Coyne Racing car and may join the IndyCar series this season. In total, 2,115 laps were completed over the two days of testing, providing valuable data for the season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida, on March 10.
