Ericsson successfully defends a challenge from Canapino in one of the many near misses. The Detroit Grand Prix on Sunday was a chaotic and unpredictable race, with numerous caution periods interrupting the 100-lap IndyCar event. Most incidents were caused by drivers aggressively maneuvering on the inside during braking, resulting in collisions and prolonged periods behind the safety car. Even during the caution-free periods, there was plenty of side-by-side action and several cars damaged due to aggressive driving. Ericsson managed to navigate through the chaos, but expressed concern about getting caught up in other people’s mistakes during restarts. He believes that drivers need to exercise more caution and that the series should consider implementing better management to avoid such incidents. Despite the challenging race, Ericsson finished in second place, his best result of the season. He expressed relief at finally having a successful race after a stressful month of May.
