McLaren CEO Rules Out Team Orders Between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris

McLaren’s CEO is on cloud nine with his drivers Pride at McLaren
After several challenging seasons, McLaren made a triumphant return last year to its illustrious history, clinching the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship after a drought since 1998. The 2025 season has kicked off on the right foot for the English team, having already secured victory in five out of the six races and being unanimously hailed in the paddock as the top contender for the world titles.

Piastri vs. Norris?
The dominance displayed in Miami hinted at potential internal rivalry, quickly dismissed by Lando Norris—who trails Oscar Piastri by -16 points—with a nonchalant remark: “We’ll only find out as we live it.” Zak Brown, speaking to the Daily Mail, has ruled out any interference from McLaren in the battle between the two drivers: “There’s absolute respect between them. They might clash at some point, but I’m not worried. We won’t issue team orders or name a lead driver unless, let’s say, one of them is already mathematically out of contention with five races to go.” Brown deems this scenario unlikely: “I don’t think it will happen. I hope instead that they will compete for the title until the end. It’s up to them to decide who will win.”
