Elfyn Evans Strikes Back in Rally Sweden – Takes Lead with One Stage to Go

Elfyn Evans refused to back down in the final-day shootout at Rally Sweden, clawing back his lead from Takamoto Katsuta with just one stage left to decide the winner.

Katsuta stunned the field on the first pass of Västervik, erasing Evans’ advantage with a 7.5-second charge to take the lead by 4.5s. But Evans wasn’t about to let victory slip away.

Evans’ Ice-Cold Response: A Massive Push to Retake the Lead

🚨 WHAT HAPPENED:
🔹 Katsuta took the lead by 4.5 seconds with a blistering first run through Västervik.
🔹 Evans hit back hard on the second pass, beating Thierry Neuville by 6.7s to regain the lead by 3.7s.
🔹 Katsuta, shocked by the gap, admitted he might have been too cautious on the return run.

At the stage stop-line, Evans admitted he wasn’t sure if his time was enough—but knew he had to respond aggressively.

“I didn’t know how it went,” Evans said. “It felt better [than the first pass] but, s*, I needed a response.”**

Neuville vs. Tänak – The Fight for Third Heats Up

While Evans and Katsuta battle for victory, Hyundai teammates Neuville and Ott Tänak are locked in a fierce fight for the final podium spot.

🔹 Neuville extended his advantage over Tänak to 3.3s heading into the final powerstage showdown.
🔹 Tänak will have one last chance to strike back—but time is running out.

With one stage left, Evans is on the verge of victory—but Katsuta isn’t out of it yet.
