EDP Comercial announced that it has been chosen by ALDI, one of the leading retail companies at both national and European levels, to install and operate more than 650 fast charging points for electric vehicles.
This newly announced partnership includes the installation of charging points at more than 140 existing stores with parking lots, as well as at new ALDI stores that will open throughout this year and next. In addition, EDP Comercial will also operate the chargers that are already installed in 34 of these stores.
The power of the fast charging equipment to be installed in the parking lots of the stores will range between 60kW and 120kW. This way, ALDI customers will be able to choose how quickly they want to recharge their vehicle while doing their shopping.
“Creating a robust infrastructure of charging points is crucial to accelerating the adoption of electric mobility. Therefore, at EDP, we are very pleased to celebrate this long-term partnership with ALDI Portugal, the largest electric mobility initiative ever undertaken in the country, to provide consumers with the convenience of charging their vehicles while shopping, anywhere in the country”, said Carlos Moreira, administrator of EDP Comercial.
These new charging points add to the more than 3300 that EDP Comercial already has in operation or in implementation in Portugal, across more than 195 municipalities in all districts of the country.
