Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz receives recommendation to join Mercedes or Red Bull Racing.
During the Formula For Success Podcast, Eddie Jordan quickly dismissed the idea of Carlos Sainz joining Sauber for the 2025 season.
Currently, thirteen drivers do not have contracts for the next 2025 season.
Among this group is Alex Albon, whose team boss James Vowles expressed his commitment for the next year. However, it would not be surprising if there was a termination clause in his contract.
The most notable name without an agreement for next year is Carlos Sainz.
Last season, the 29-year-old driver was the only competitor to challenge the dominance of the Red Bulls. However, Ferrari chose not to keep him.
This cannot be entirely attributed to Sainz; when a seven-time world champion like Lewis Hamilton becomes available, it is hard to ignore him.
Despite his family connections with the team, Jordan believes that Sainz should aim higher for his next move.
Discussing possible destinations for Sainz on the grid, Jordan exclaimed: “This Audi rumor is absurd, guys, hold on!
“We have already seen Toyota, BMW, Honda, and many other great manufacturers; this doesn’t happen overnight.
“I don’t care who is involved.
“It’s complete nonsense! If Carlos [Sainz] wants an exceptional career in F1, he needs to wait for Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull, or a similar team. He is talented enough.
“Not long ago, we started a season with Nico Rosberg, and nobody believed he could compete against Lewis Hamilton, but he proved us all wrong.
“I see a significant resemblance between Carlos Sainz and Nico Rosberg.
“He is in the shadows, incredibly talented, looks impressive, acts impressively, behaves impressively.
“In my opinion, he is already a great candidate because when the board makes decisions – remember, it’s not just Toto [Wolff], Zak Brown, or Christian Horner – other decision-makers are involved, and I believe Carlos Sainz has tremendous potential; he will end up in a top team.”
Sainz will be hoping that Jordan’s predictions come true as it would offer him better opportunities than just Audi.
Reports suggest that Williams holds him in high regard; if he were to replace Logan Sargeant, it would create a strong partnership.
Anthony Davidson seems certain that Sainz will join Sauber next year, emphasizing the uncertainty surrounding his future destinations.
