The Public Security Police (PSP) starts this Friday the traditional “Easter Safety 2024” operation, with patrolling and enforcement actions throughout the territory, at the accesses to the main road axes.
The operation, which runs until March 31, aims at road safety and crime prevention, leading the PSP to increase its presence in areas with high influx of people, namely historical and commercial areas, public transport terminals, tourist areas, and nightlife zones.
During Easter, a period with a high number of trips to celebrate the festive season, the PSP will carry out preventive visibility operations and road enforcement at the accesses to the main road axes, monitoring trips outside urban centers and subsequent return.
“These operations will focus on the main causes of accidents: speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or psychotropic substances, using the mobile phone while driving, not wearing seat belts and child restraint systems (car seats)”, states the PSP.
In the statement, the PSP also urges all drivers to drive safely, not to adopt behaviors that may impair their driving abilities, such as speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol and/or psychotropic substances, and using the mobile phone.
