Four people died and 23 were seriously injured in the more than 1600 accidents recorded by the National Republican Guard (GNR) during the Easter Operation 2024, according to a provisional report released this Tuesday.
In a statement, the GNR informs that during the Easter Operation 2024, which took place between March 25 and April 1, 1647 accidents were recorded, resulting in four deaths, 23 serious injuries, and 442 minor injuries.
During the Easter Operation, the GNR inspected 42,315 drivers, of which 427 were driving with excess alcohol in their blood. Of these, 224 were arrested for having a blood alcohol level equal to or greater than 1.2 g/l. The GNR statement also indicates that another 108 people were arrested for driving without a valid license.
During the same period, 6592 road traffic offenses were detected, 1453 for speeding, 1012 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 297 for lack of mandatory civil liability insurance, and 230 for anomalies in lighting and signaling systems.
The GNR also recorded 199 cases of improper use of mobile phones while driving and 180 instances of missing or incorrectly used seat belts and/or child safety seats.
