Longtime competitor in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America, DXDT Racing, is set to join the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the GTD class for the 2025 season. The team will maintain its partnership with Chevrolet and Corvette, fielding the No. 36 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R for a full-season campaign as part of Corvette’s customer racing program.
Team owner David Askew, who has aspired to compete in endurance racing, expressed his enthusiasm for the new venture. “I began racing and building this team with the goal of eventually competing in IMSA, and everything I’ve done over the past decade has been aimed at achieving this milestone,” Askew stated. “With the addition of Erin Gahagan as team manager and Bryan Sellers as program manager, we now have the right structure to make this step.”
DXDT has had a successful 2024 season in GT World Challenge America, securing victories in every race they entered in the Pro category, with Alec Udell and Tommy Milner driving the Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Their dominance included eight race wins up until the Indy 8 Hour, marking the first global victory for the Z06 GT3.R. Sellers and Bryson Morris also claimed two wins in the Pro-Am category, further solidifying the team’s credentials ahead of their IMSA debut.
Askew highlighted the significance of their partnership with GM and Pratt Miller, emphasizing the relationship’s role in their preparation for IMSA competition. “This year has proven that together, we can compete for podiums and victories at any track. This is a pivotal moment for DXDT Racing, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
Bryan Sellers, who has been with DXDT Racing for several years and recently took on the role of program manager, has a decorated history in IMSA’s GTD class, including two championships with Paul Miller Racing. While Sellers’ specific role in the driver lineup for the new GTD entry remains undisclosed, his involvement in the team’s operations hints at a potential continuation of his driving duties. Sellers expressed his excitement, saying, “This has been a long-term goal for David, and it’s something we’ve all been working toward. With the right partnership with GM and Pratt Miller, we’re entering this new phase with confidence.”
DXDT’s entry into IMSA’s GTD class further cements Corvette’s presence in American sports car racing. Since Corvette’s factory debut in 1999 and the subsequent launch of its customer program in 2024, the marque has amassed 14 IMSA manufacturer titles and 115 class victories. “We are excited to see more Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs in the IMSA GTD class for 2025,” said Mark Stielow, director of Chevrolet Motorsports Competition Engineering. “DXDT Racing has proven its capabilities this year, and we’re proud to support them as they expand their program and build on their success across multiple series.”
The team’s driver lineup for the 2025 GTD effort will be announced in the coming months as DXDT Racing prepares for its highly anticipated debut in one of the world’s premier sports car championships.
