Verstappen reveals Red Bull’s bigger worry than Perez’s Formula 1 struggles.

Dutch racing veteran Tim Coronel didn’t mince words when responding to Kyle Larson’s recent comments downplaying Max Verstappen’s abilities across motorsport disciplines. Larson, a NASCAR star, had suggested that he would outperform the three-time Formula 1 World Champion in various forms of racing—a claim that sparked controversy in the racing community.

Coronel, known for his straightforward opinions, was quick to defend his fellow countryman. He bluntly asserted that Larson has “no chance” against Verstappen, regardless of the motorsport category. According to Coronel, it would take only “two practice sessions” for Larson to be reduced to tears when faced with the sheer skill and speed of Verstappen.

The 52-year-old former racer went further, suggesting that Larson’s remarks showed a fundamental misunderstanding of what it takes to compete at Verstappen’s level. “If Larson really believes he could outperform Max, he’s got it all wrong,” Coronel said, adding that the NASCAR driver might not fully grasp the complexity and precision required in top-tier racing like Formula 1.

Coronel also expressed that Larson’s comments indicated a lack of awareness of the broader motorsport world. He even hinted that he would welcome a direct competition between the two, predicting that Verstappen would easily come out on top.

While Max Verstappen has yet to respond to Larson’s remarks, it’s unlikely that the Dutchman will be drawn into the war of words. Known for his focused and disciplined approach, Verstappen seems more intent on getting back to winning ways in the 2024 Formula 1 season. Meanwhile, the racing world will be watching to see if Larson backs up his bold claims—or if Coronel’s prediction holds true.
