Ducati recognized that the competition for the second factory seat in MotoGP for 2025 is between Marc Marquez, Enea Bastianini, and Jorge Martin – and gave an insight into their current thinking. The manufacturer is committed to Pecco Bagnaia on a two-year contract, but there are still speculations about who will be his partner in the future. Bastianini had a tough first year with Ducati, but has shown improvements and is currently in third place in the standings. However, Martin, who leads the championship, and Marquez, a six-time champion, have also been performing well. Ducati’s general manager, Gigi Dall’Igna, admitted that choosing between the three riders will be a tough decision. He mentioned that they need to consider not only the upcoming races but also the riders’ history. Dall’Igna has already expressed support for Marquez joining Ducati, and there are rumors that both he and Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali, are tempted by the idea of having a rider of Marquez’s caliber in the team. However, there are obstacles to overcome, such as sponsorship issues and the possibility of Martin moving to another manufacturer. Bagnaia, when asked about his preference for a teammate, emphasized that he wants to beat them all and has no preference. Martin expressed his desire to move up to the factory team, while Marquez stated that his goal is to fight for the championship and that having the latest equipment would give him a better chance. It remains to be seen what decision Ducati will make regarding their second factory seat in MotoGP.
