Timo Glock Blasts DTM Youth for Reckless Driving Behavior
Former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock is not holding back on his criticism of the younger generation of DTM drivers after a chaotic race at Oschersleben. Glock, who recently made a comeback in the series, expressed his frustration with what he described as “kamikaze driving” by some of his rivals during Sunday’s race.
In an interview with ProSieben, Glock didn’t mince his words, stating, “It felt like everyone out there thought they had to drive totally kamikaze.” The 43-year-old driver went on to reveal the extent of the damage to his car, saying, “I had eight punches in the car at some point.”
Glock’s retirement from the race was further fueled by a collision with rookie driver Tom Kalender, which resulted in Kalender having to endure multiple penalties. Glock pointed out that it was not just one incident but a series of aggressive maneuvers by several young drivers that pushed him over the edge.
The veteran driver highlighted the decline in track behavior since the transition to GT3 cars in 2021, noting that the level of driving standards has deteriorated significantly. Glock emphasized the need for race control to step in and address the reckless driving behavior before it leads to more serious consequences.
Looking ahead, Glock expressed his intention to discuss the matter with race director Sven Stoppe and stressed the importance of ensuring a safer racing environment for all competitors. As tensions rise in the DTM paddock, all eyes will be on how race officials handle the aftermath of Glock’s outspoken criticism.
