DS Penske has announced that Jessica Edgar and Beitske Visser will drive for the team during the upcoming historic all-female Formula E test in Valencia next month. Both drivers, who bring a wealth of experience from all-female racing series, are set to showcase their talents behind the wheel of the Gen3 Evo DS E-TENSE FE25.
Jessica Edgar, cousin of fellow racing driver Jonny Edgar, comes into the test after an impressive season in the F1 Academy, where she secured four podiums and a victory in the final round in the U.S., finishing eighth overall in 2023. She also competed in the inaugural GB4 Championship in 2022, where she finished seventh.
“I’m grateful for the fantastic opportunity from DS Penske to participate in the Valencia Women’s Test,” Edgar said. “It’s a super exciting thought to drive a Formula E car, and the fact it’s the new Gen3 Evo makes it even more special. I will give it my all!”
Beitske Visser, a two-time W Series race winner and runner-up in the 2019 and 2022 seasons, brings extensive experience to the test, having competed in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans twice. She co-drove with fellow Formula E testers Tatiana Calderón and Sophia Flörsch as part of Richard Mille Racing. Visser, known for her versatility across various racing disciplines, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity.
“I have always been interested in Formula E and can’t wait to be behind the wheel of the new DS E-TENSE FE25,” Visser said. “It is going to be a great experience, and I really look forward to it!”
DS Penske’s Deputy Team Principal, Phil Charles, praised the team’s driver selection, noting their talent and potential. “With Jessica and Beitske behind the wheel of the DS E-TENSE FE25, our team has two extremely talented drivers signed on for the Women’s Test,” he said. “We’ve seen both in action in the simulator at our factory, and I’m really pleased we are able to give them an opportunity to demonstrate their considerable pace and ability in the Formula E car.”
The upcoming test will provide Edgar and Visser the chance to not only showcase their skills but also contribute to DS Penske’s ongoing development in Formula E. It marks a significant moment for both drivers and the sport, as Formula E continues to break new ground in promoting diversity and inclusion in motorsport.
