DS Automobiles announced the arrival of new hybrid options for the DS3 and DS4 models, thus expanding the range of engine choices.
The hybrid solution consists of a 136 hp gasoline engine with 230 Nm of torque, combined with a new six-speed e-DCS6 dual-clutch automatic gearbox that integrates a 28 hp and 55 Nm electric motor. A 0.9 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery powers the automatic charging electrical system.
The gasoline engine has been enhanced for the integration of the hybrid system, now operating on the Miller cycle, providing greater thermodynamic efficiency and consequently a significant reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The engine is also equipped with a new timing chain and a new variable geometry turbocharger to maximize sustainability and low-end response capacity.
In the case of the DS 3 hybrid, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 1.2 seconds faster than in the equivalent thermal model with the PureTech 130 Automatic engine, clocking in at 8.4 seconds, and covers 1000 meters in acceleration in 1.1 seconds less, settling at 29.7 seconds.
On the other hand, the performance of the DS 4 hybrid also shows an improvement compared to the version equipped with the PureTech 130 Automatic engine, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds (1.2 seconds less) and the 1000 meters start in 31.7 seconds (1.3 seconds less).
According to DS, this hybrid option allows driving in electric mode for more than 50% of the journey time, with a benefit of around 40% less fuel consumption.
The DS 3 and DS 4 hybrids also introduce the new equipment levels, Pallas and Étoile, each with two different option packs. The exterior design is identical for both, with DS Wings and glossy black exhaust tips, and special 19’’ wheels.
The Pallas version features an interior in diamond tungsten fabric with black DS canvas, displaying a new stitching pattern on the seat and back. The comfort of the cabin is ensured by the laminated acoustic front side windows and the Clean Cabin system with Air Quality System, integrated into the bi-zone automatic air conditioning system.
In terms of driving assistance systems, it includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Departure Warning, and Front and Rear Parking Sensors, with a Rear View Camera.
In the Étoile version, the DS 4 hybrid offers two interiors in black Alcantara, with new stitching, or in Creole brown Nappa leather, with bracelet-type watch strap upholstery, adding the heated seats system, DS Iris System infotainment system with DS Snart Touch and DS Extended Head-Up Display.
This version is also equipped with DS Matrix LED Vision headlights, tinted rear windows with laminated acoustic side windows, as well as the rear traffic detection pack.
Two optional Comfort and Tech packs are available as an option for the Pallas equipment level, and Absolute Comfort and Absolute Tech for the Étoile level.
At the top of the range finish includes DS Drive Assist 2.0 Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, seats with massage function, Focal Electra sound system, and Vision 360.
DS Automobiles has already announced that the arrival of the DS 3 and DS4 hybrids to the national market will happen soon, however, the price of the new electrified versions is still unknown.
