Donald Trump’s associado lança investigação sobre a recusa da F1 na oferta da Cadillac Andretti no Congresso dos EUA.

Formula 1 is under scrutiny by American lawmakers due to its rejection of Andretti-Cadillac’s entry into the sport. The American team was hoping to join the grid as the eleventh team, but Formula One Management (FOM) argued that they would not bring enough value to the sport. As a result, the United States House of Representatives has launched an investigation into this decision.

A group of 12 legislators had previously sent a letter to Liberty Media, the owner of Formula 1, demanding an explanation for the rejection. Jim Jordan, a close ally of former President Donald Trump and chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is leading the new investigation. Jordan sent a letter to Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

In the letter, Jordan expressed concerns that delaying Andretti-Cadillac’s entry, even for a single year, would have a negative impact on American consumers. He also highlighted that the limited number of teams on the grid would increase sponsorship costs and the price of buying an existing team.

The congressman made it clear that Formula 1 and Liberty Media must respond to the letter by May 21. Furthermore, the Judiciary Committee requested a team-level meeting to better understand why FOM rejected the Andretti-Cadillac proposal.

It is worth noting that Jim Jordan met with Donald Trump days before the start of the investigation. Additionally, Trump attended the Formula 1 race in Miami last weekend. These actions indicate that American politicians are aware of the popularity of Formula 1 and are eager to see Andretti-Cadillac compete at the highest level of motorsport. Currently, the Haas F1 team is the only American team in the sport, although it has strong ties to Ferrari and Dallara from Italy.

Currently, Formula 1 and Liberty Media have not provided any comment on Jim Jordan’s letter. However, Jordan holds significant influence in the United States Congress. Therefore, Stefano Domenicali and Greg Maffei may be required to disclose the entire decision-making process behind the fate of Andretti-Cadillac. Fans are undoubtedly eager to gain a better understanding of this outcome.
