Dodge Issues Major Recall for Challenger and Charger Due to Seatback Defect!

In a shocking turn of events, Chrysler has been forced to issue a recall for thousands of vehicles due to a dangerous safety issue. The problem lies with the seatback latch, which is prone to failure, putting occupants at risk of injury.

The issue was brought to Chrysler’s attention on July 10, 2023, and after a lengthy investigation, the automaker’s Vehicle Regulations Committee decided to conduct a recall on July 25. However, it’s not just one model that’s affected – both the Charger and the Challenger have been recalled.

According to reports, a total of 3,750 vehicles equipped with 60/40 folding rear seats are potentially affected. Of these, 2,852 are examples of the 2023 Challenger and 898 are examples of the 2023 Charger. The production dates for these vehicles range from June 24 to June 28 for the Charger and July 29 to August 16 for the Challenger.

To address the issue, dealers have been instructed to adjust the seatback latch striker if necessary. Chrysler emphasizes that this is a vehicle assembly issue and not a design-related defect or a manufacturing problem caused by the supplier, Magna Closures.

The recall is expected to begin on August 15, 2024, and owners will be notified by mail. It’s crucial for affected vehicle owners to take action promptly to ensure their safety and the safety of their passengers.

This recall comes at a time when the Charger and Challenger have been making headlines for their impressive performance on the drag strip. The final Challenger was produced in December 2023, while the Charger made a comeback for the 2024 model year with a completely new platform and updated powertrains.

The new Charger is available in an all-electric version initially, with a five-door liftback and inline-six engine option coming next year. Built on the STLA Large platform, the Charger boasts an exclusively all-wheel drive system, offering improved handling and performance.

One of the most exciting variants is the Daytona, an all-electric model that pays homage to the Charger’s racing heritage. Additionally, there’s the SIXPACK, which features a powerful twin-turbo I6 engine. Both models offer impressive performance and a modern twist on classic design.

While the recall may be a setback for Chrysler, it’s important to remember that the company is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its customers. With the necessary adjustments made, owners can continue to enjoy the thrilling performance and cutting-edge features that the Charger and Challenger have to offer.
