Designers from BMW, Volvo, and VW used their free time to create the perfect car.

Designers da BMW, Volvo e VW usaram as folgas para criar o automóvel perfeito

A group of car designer friends decided to join forces in their free time, outside of their cutting-edge work in top companies, to design their vision of the ultimate sports car, free from any limitations imposed by marketing or technical constraints, suitable for both fully electric propulsion and internal combustion engines.

Qiuchen Lee (interior designer at BMW), Tiago Aiello (designer at Volvo), Grigori Butin (formerly at Volkswagen, now at NIO), Sandeep Dasari (Dazz Design), and senior designer Artem Shkirenko, jointly sign this spectacular Aegis Coupe, a digital concept with only two doors, which recalls the elegant line of the Aston Martin Vantage, in shape and proportions.

The style exercise presented as “a new approach to beauty values, antithesis of unification and simplification,” aims to reflect the perfect model from the creators’ point of view.

The name Aegis is inspired by Greek mythology, recalling the protective shield wielded by Zeus and Athena, the goddess of wisdom and prudence. The Aegis Coupe features a very aerodynamically designed body that envelops the occupants like a protective shell, while allowing for ideal airflow and cooling.

The front is dominated by a large grille that integrates the headlights and sensors, while the side profile is characterized by a dynamic waistline that rises towards the rear. The low and sloping roofline towards the trunk enhances this sporty silhouette.

Inside, designed to offer a comfortable but always engaging driving experience, with a cocoon-like layout, there is no room for a single digital screen, highlighting the unique shape of the steering wheel and the minimalist instrument panel, which follows a retro theme, reminiscent of a clock face.

More than a “study,” the Aegis Coupe can be understood as a statement of intent, reflecting the creativity and passion of a group of talented designers who wanted to express their vision of the future of mobility. They assure that it was all for fun and non-profit…
