The Cleveland Browns are on the lookout for an upgrade at the wide receiver position. One name that has been making waves in the free agency class is Tee Higgins. There has been speculation surrounding Higgins, especially after he started following Deshaun Watson, a fellow Clemson alumnus, and Browns WR Elijah Moore on social media. This has led to rumors of potential recruiting happening behind the scenes.
The Lockerverse podcast team decided to approach Watson and ask him about the situation. They wanted to know if he was actively trying to recruit Higgins to join him in Cleveland. Watson’s response was clear – he wants all the top receivers if he can have them. However, he downplayed the whole story, stating that it was just a social media frenzy and speculation.
While Watson claims he has no say or input in the team’s signing process, it’s hard to believe that the Browns wouldn’t keep their star player updated on potential free-agent signings. It’s safe to assume that the Browns will be doing their due diligence on not only Higgins but also all the other potential targets in the offseason.
The Cincinnati Bengals, on the other hand, might have a difficult time holding onto Higgins. After signing Joe Burrow to a record-breaking contract extension, they will also have to pay star WR Ja’Marr Chase in the near future. This could make it challenging for them to retain Higgins. Whether he will ultimately decide to jump ship and sign with a divisional rival like the Browns remains to be seen.
