Title: Denny Hamlin Unveils the Secrets Behind 23XI Racing's Dominance Over JGR

In a shocking revelation that has sent waves through the racing community, Denny Hamlin, the veteran driver and co-owner of 23XI Racing, has laid bare the intricate dynamics at play between his team and the formidable Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). For those unaware, 23XI Racing shells out a staggering $8 million annually to JGR, securing a treasure trove of technical data that fuels their competitive edge. But hold on—this isn’t a one-way street. In a recent episode of his podcast, “Actions Detrimental,” Hamlin boldly asserted that the exchange of information is reciprocal, intensifying the rivalry between these two powerhouse teams.

“We're always privy to what they're doing as well as they know what we’re doing,” Hamlin declared, spotlighting the closely-knit yet fiercely competitive relationship that defines these teams. As the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season kicks off, 23XI Racing is making headlines for all the right reasons. With Tyler Reddick clinching an astounding four victories out of the first six races, the question on everyone's lips is: How is 23XI outperforming JGR, a team with a storied legacy?

Hamlin offers a glimpse into the inner workings of both teams, explaining that the divergence in their racing setups begins well in advance of race day. “It starts about a week and a half to two weeks in advance,” he explained. Teams collaboratively develop a baseline setup, determining the optimal shock, springs, and weight configurations for their cars. As simulations are run, this initial setup undergoes a transformation, adapting to the evolving data collected during practice sessions.

Yet, despite this meticulous planning, Hamlin admits that the real-time adjustments made by drivers play a pivotal role in determining the final setup. “The drivers send the teams down a certain path of 'what I want my car to do,'” he elaborated. This collaborative process means that what works for one team may not necessarily translate to success for another, leading to a thrilling guessing game for each race.

Interestingly, Hamlin revealed that he doesn’t closely monitor his competitors' setups during the season. “I don’t look at setup sheets or anything like that,” he stated. Instead, he focuses on perfecting his own car's feel, relying on his extensive experience to guide his decisions. “At so many of these racetracks, I have a really good understanding of the feel that I need in my car to go win,” he added, emphasizing his commitment to his craft.

As the dust settles on the first six races, it’s clear that 23XI Racing’s strategic guessing game has paid off, allowing them to carve a niche for themselves in a sport dominated by the likes of JGR. With their innovative approach and Hamlin’s insider insights, the question remains: Can 23XI maintain their edge and continue to outsmart their more established rivals on the racetrack?

As the NASCAR season unfolds, all eyes will be on Denny Hamlin and his 23XI Racing team, eager to see if they can sustain their remarkable momentum and further disrupt the status quo in the world of racing. The battle between these two teams is far from over, and the intrigue is palpable.
