Unfortunately, the pit crew of the Kaulig Racing driver did not adhere to this principle, potentially costing Hamlin the victory.
Despite the setbacks, Hamlin led the race for an impressive 71 laps and even won the first stage. However, a poorly executed pit stop allowed Kyle Larson to take the lead and ultimately win the race by a mere 0.001 seconds. This put pressure on Hamlin to regain his position among the top contenders as he fell back in the pack.
In the final stage, Hamlin faced additional difficulties due to errors during pit stops, which caused him to fall even further back in the pack. However, thanks to the strategic decisions made by his crew chief, he was able to recover and finish in fifth place.
