Wayne Taylor Racing joined forces with Andretti to compete in the Acura ARX-06 GTP category. The team consisted of Jordan Taylor, Louis Deletraz, and Colton Herta. In an exciting race against strong competitors like Cadillac, Porsche, and BMW, Deletraz, Taylor, and Herta emerged victorious after 12 hours of intense competition at Sebring.
Throughout the race, the Cadillac V-Series.R #31 from Action Express, driven by Pipo Derani, Jack Aitken, and Tom Blomqvist, showed great promise, leading for a significant part of the race. However, it was not meant to be as the race unfolded. Despite battling with other strong contenders like the Chip Ganassi Cadillac #01, the WTRAndretti team, and the Porsches, the Cadillac #31 could not maintain its lead.
The race saw several lead changes and strategic pit stops. At one point, Bourdais overtook Derani at turn 1, with minimal resistance from the Brazilian driver. However, Derani regained the lead when Bourdais made a pit stop. The battle for the lead continued between Dixon in the Cadillac #01, Aitken in the Cadillac #31, and Cameron in the Porsche #7.
As the race progressed, Derani once again took the lead, only to be challenged by his teammate Nasr in the Porsche #7. The two engaged in a fierce battle, but Nasr ultimately emerged as the leader after a well-executed pit stop. Derani tried to regain the lead but was unsuccessful. Nasr widened his advantage, leaving Bourdais, Taylor, and Deletraz to fight for the remaining podium positions.
However, a dramatic twist occurred when Derani collided with the AF Corse Ferrari #21, causing his Cadillac to hit the barriers and flip over. This incident resulted in a yellow flag and safety car period, completely changing the dynamics of the race.
With the overall victory at stake, BMW took the lead after a quick pit stop, with Martin in BMW #25 leading the pack. Taylor and Deletraz in the Acuras, along with van der Zande in Cadillac #01, were in pursuit. Taylor managed to overtake Martin and take the lead, but soon faced mechanical issues that forced him to make an unscheduled pit stop, effectively ending his chances of victory.
In the final two hours of the race, the battle for victory intensified between Deletraz, Bourdais, and Nasr. Deletraz made a daring move to overtake Nasr and secure second place, setting his sights on Bourdais in the lead. In a thrilling finish, Deletraz managed to overtake Bourdais and claim victory, crossing the finish line just 0.891 seconds ahead.
It was a race filled with intense competition, but in the end, Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti and their Acura ARX-06 emerged as the champions of the 12 Hours of Sebring.
