Daytona 500: Austin Cindric’s Superspeedway Skills Earn High Praise from Denny Hamlin

In the recent aftermath of the Daytona 500, Austin Cindric emerged as one of the few drivers who managed to evade criticism for his on-track maneuvers. Instead, he found himself on the receiving end of high praise for his remarkable performance on the superspeedway.

Notably, the commendation came from none other than three-time Daytona 500 champion Denny Hamlin. During a recent podcast episode, Hamlin delved into an analysis of the Daytona 500’s thrilling finale and the importance of holding drivers accountable for instigating wrecks. Amid his discussion, he singled out Cindric, the Team Penske racer, for his exceptional racing skills and sound decision-making.

Hamlin lauded Cindric as one of the finest superspeedway drivers currently in the field. The compliment carried weight as it was rooted in Cindric’s strategic blocks and his ‘live to fight another lap’ mentality, which has earned him the respect of veterans like Hamlin from Joe Gibbs Racing.

Cindric, while speaking on Saturday, expressed his appreciation for Hamlin’s comments. He noted the rarity of not only earning such respect but also hearing it voiced by competitors. As a successful superspeedway racer for the past couple of decades, Hamlin’s high opinion was indeed a matter of pride for Cindric.

Reflecting on his Daytona 500 performance, Cindric highlighted the significance of his duel with Hamlin in the race’s closing stages. Despite losing the lead to Hamlin on the final lap, Cindric’s performance was undeniably impressive. Unfortunately, an ensuing crash ended their battle prematurely, eliminating them both along with other drivers.

Cindric’s performance at Daytona, although not resulting in a victory, was nonetheless commendable. Despite his track record at superspeedway circuits not being particularly impressive on paper, it fails to reflect his competitive spirit. Cindric led the most laps in the Daytona 500, demonstrating his potential on these tracks.

His prowess extends to other drafting-style racetracks including Atlanta and Talladega, where he has led a total of 329 laps. However, his Daytona 500 victory remains his sole triumph on these circuits.

Looking ahead, Cindric is set for another strong showing. He qualified second at Atlanta Motor Speedway, following his second-place qualification at Daytona. Reflecting on his performances at superspeedway circuits, Cindric credited his success to thorough preparation and a fast race car.

In summary, Austin Cindric’s strategic racing at superspeedway circuits has not only earned him high praise from competitors but also set him up as a contender to watch in future races. However, only time will tell if his meticulous preparation and ‘live to fight another lap’ mentality will translate into more victories on the track.
