Coulthard believes that Hamilton has not yet found his rhythm with the car. While the team works to improve lap times, the 39-year-old driver is struggling to keep up. Coulthard suggests that, due to the disappointing performance of the Mercedes cars, Hamilton’s focus has shifted to Maranello, where Ferrari is based, and he is less concerned about his final season with Mercedes.
Jordan, a friend of David Coulthard and former F1 team owner, agrees with Coulthard’s assessment of Hamilton’s mindset. Jordan believes that the seven-time world champion is disheartened by the current state of Mercedes. He also points out that the team’s performance is no different from last year and criticizes their weak start to the season.
Furthermore, Jordan questions Mercedes’ ability to compete with other teams on the track. He suggests that, aside from Ferrari, no other team has a real chance of challenging Red Bull for the championship.
