Daniel Suarez criticized NASCAR’s inconsistent standards. The 2024 All-Star race in North Wilkesboro witnessed a highly intense moment when JTDG Racing driver delivered a powerful punch to the face of the RCR veteran. This altercation resulted in a chaotic scene involving the teams and Stenhouse’s father. The confrontation was triggered by Stenhouse causing an accident with Suarez on the second lap.
Despite the attention it brought to the sport, NASCAR did not take the fight lightly and imposed significant fines. Suarez was fined $75,000, one member of his team was suspended for eight races, and Stenhouse’s father received an indefinite suspension for his involvement.
Many, including a NASCAR Hall of Famer, were surprised by the severity of the penalties. Mexican driver from Trackhouse Racing, Suarez, expressed his dissatisfaction with NASCAR for promoting images of the fight while penalizing Stenhouse Jr.
Suarez questioned why NASCAR would show the incident on their social media if it was considered wrong. He believed that drivers should be allowed to express their emotions without facing such consequences.
Co-owner of JR Motorsports and sister of Dale Jr., Earnhardt, supported Suarez’s perspective. She also questioned NASCAR’s decision to penalize the drivers severely despite using the fight for marketing purposes.
Suarez and Earnhardt agreed that the penalty imposed on Stenhouse Jr. was too harsh. They suggested that NASCAR should reconsider and reduce the punishment. However, they acknowledged that the penalties for the team and Stenhouse’s father were somewhat justified, as they should not have participated in the driver’s fight, regardless of their emotions.
