Title: Daniel Ricciardo Passes the Baton: A Touching Reunion with Max Verstappen Ahead of F1 2026 Season!

In a heartwarming twist that has F1 fans buzzing with excitement, beloved driver Daniel Ricciardo has opened up about an emotional reunion with his former Red Bull teammate, the unstoppable Max Verstappen. Their legendary partnership dates back to a decade ago when a fresh-faced 17-year-old Verstappen shook up the racing world by stepping into the Red Bull cockpit. His first race alongside Ricciardo marked a historic moment as he clinched victory, making him the youngest Grand Prix winner in Formula 1 history—a feat that set the stage for his meteoric rise in the sport.

However, the journey was not without its complexities. When Verstappen burst onto the scene, Ricciardo found himself grappling with the pressures of being the senior driver. The young prodigy’s rapid ascent, coupled with perceived preferential treatment, created a competitive tension that colored their time together at Red Bull. After leaving the team in 2018, Ricciardo sought to reclaim his status as a leading driver with Renault, but this move heralded a turbulent chapter in his career.

Fast forward to today, and the tides have turned in a spectacular fashion! Ricciardo, who has taken on the role of Global Ford Racing Ambassador, has reunited with Verstappen in a moment that resonates deeply with their shared history. This reunion comes at a pivotal time as Red Bull gears up for its inaugural season in partnership with Ford for 2026.

At the launch event, a stunning new livery was unveiled for the Red Bull team, prominently displaying Verstappen’s new driver number, which he has proudly inherited from Ricciardo—number three! After surrendering the coveted number one title to Lando Norris last season, Verstappen has chosen to embrace Ricciardo’s legacy as he heads into the upcoming season.

In an exclusive conversation with GQ Sport, Ricciardo reflected on this special connection: “I got to see Max recently, and the number three thing is quite cool—it’s a cool story for us and for F1 fans who supported us during our time as teammates. When we met in Austin and he expressed his desire to take number three, I was thrilled to agree. Otherwise, he might have had to wait another year. It’s a pleasure for me to pass that number on to him now.”

This touching gesture highlights the enduring friendship between these two racing icons, who have captivated fans around the globe. As anticipation builds for the 2026 season, one thing is clear: the spirit of competition and camaraderie between Ricciardo and Verstappen is alive and well, promising an electrifying new chapter in Formula 1 history.

Stay tuned for more thrilling updates as the racing world gears up for what could be an unforgettable season ahead!
