Former F1 Superstar Daniel Ricciardo Drops Bombshell: ‘I’ve Got an Itch to Race Again’ – Will He Make a Comeback by 2026?

In a jaw-dropping revelation that has motorsport fans buzzing, ex-Formula 1 sensation Daniel Ricciardo has ignited speculation about a potential return to racing. The Australian star, who was sidelined from F1 last year, has surprisingly hinted that he might not be done with competitive racing just yet.

After his departure from the high-octane world of Formula 1, Ricciardo initially dismissed any thoughts of a comeback, instead embracing his new role as a global ambassador for Ford. He recently participated in a thrilling Raptor Rally event in Arizona, showcasing his skills behind the wheel of the formidable Ford Raptor T1+ prototype. During an engaging Q&A session, he unveiled his undeniable craving for the adrenaline rush of racing, declaring he has an “itch” to compete again.

When pressed about his feelings after a jaw-dropping jump at the rally, Ricciardo said, “Monaco is incredible, but today’s jump was incredible, having gone airborne multiple times across the incredible Ford event. I was in the T1+, and Mitch gave me the fright of my life! I definitely got more than I bargained for, but it was freaking awesome.”

The question on every fan’s mind: Could the Baja 1000 be in his future? This legendary off-road race, notorious for its peril and difficulty, takes place annually on the rugged Baja California Peninsula in Mexico. Since its inception in 1967, the Baja 1000 has become a rite of passage for daredevils, featuring various classes of vehicles, including dirt bikes, buggies, and truggys, all navigating treacherous desert and rocky terrain. With Ricciardo expressing interest, the racing world is left to wonder if he will take the plunge into this grueling challenge.

“The itch for Baja is there, but I’ve got a lot to learn. A few more of these events, and then ask me next year. We’ll see where I’m at!” he added, leaving fans teetering on the edge of their seats.

Mark Rushbrook, head of Ford Racing, addressed Ricciardo’s future in competition, stating, “We’re enjoying that time with him, and the benefit that we get from that. I guess, TBD, what we’ll see in the future. At this point, I can say there is no plan for competition, but you never know what the future holds.”

As whispers grow louder, the motorsport community eagerly anticipates whether Ricciardo will indeed make a spectacular comeback to the racing circuit by 2026. With his undeniable talent and infectious enthusiasm, one thing is clear: the racing world is better with Daniel Ricciardo in the mix. Will he heed the call of competition once more? Only time will tell, but fans are ready for the ride!
