Daniel Ricciardo stated that he desired to compete alongside Max Verstappen once more before retiring from the sport. The Formula 1 fans have not witnessed Ricciardo in his prime since 2021. However, considering his significance to the sport, it is difficult for fans to envision the grid without him. Nevertheless, due to his age and recent struggles, retirement rumors have surfaced. In a recent interview, when asked if he wished to face Verstappen for one last time before retiring, Ricciardo unequivocally affirmed his desire.

When discussing the possibility of competing against Max Verstappen for the final time, Daniel Ricciardo made it clear that he would not provide a diplomatic response. He acknowledged that he must earn the opportunity rather than having it handed to him. Therefore, in a hypothetical scenario, he expressed his eagerness to seize the chance if he truly earns it. Consequently, he would eagerly go head-to-head with the Dutchman for one last time.

The race preceding the summer break held significant importance for Ricciardo’s future. He delivered decent performances, including a 10th place finish in Belgium. Despite this, he expressed uncertainty about what lies ahead after the summer break. The Honey Badger admitted that he does not view the situation as a reality yet and has not fully come to terms with it. However, he remains open to the possibility of changes occurring in the upcoming races.

Daniel Ricciardo explained that he faced numerous challenges and felt immense pressure during the Canadian Grand Prix, yet he managed to have a successful weekend. Many would claim that he was back on track. However, Ricciardo emphasized that a single good performance would not guarantee sustained recognition. He acknowledged that if he fails to perform well in the next race, he would find himself back at square one, needing to prove himself once again. To secure his future and minimize criticism, he must consistently perform at a high level.

Consequently, the pressure in Canada did not appear to greatly affect the Australian driver. However, he expressed concern that people may prematurely believe he has returned to form. If he fails to deliver in another race, all his progress would be nullified. Fans are hopeful that Ricciardo will excel in the upcoming races, thereby solidifying his position for the 2025 season.
