Danica Patrick Stirs Controversy with Flood Conspiracy Claims in North Carolina

Danica Patrick, the former IndyCar star known for her unfiltered social media presence, is back in the headlines for sharing another contentious opinion—this time about the deadly floods ravaging North Carolina. Patrick has never been one to shy away from voicing bold, and often controversial, views online, and now she’s giving air to conspiracy theories surrounding the natural disaster that has claimed dozens of lives and left hundreds missing in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

As emergency services, NGOs, and even figures like ex-NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. rally to assist flood victims with supplies and relocation efforts, Patrick has sparked debate by questioning why dams in the region failed to contain the devastation. In her Instagram story, Patrick hinted at foul play, resharing a reel from a conspiracy page that blames geo-engineering and suggests that mining corporations could now profit from the mineral-rich, flood-ravaged areas, where corporate exploitation may now get easier approval from the authorities.

“Whaaaaaat?! And it has definitely seemed weird that it’s flooding so far west in the mountains? And no dams actually broke,” Patrick commented on the post, aligning herself with the growing online speculation.

This isn’t the first time Patrick has courted controversy. She previously hosted conspiracy theorist David Icke on her podcast, a move that drew heavy criticism. Icke, who has long been associated with antisemitic and discriminatory rhetoric, sparked outrage among diverse audiences when Patrick gave him a platform. However, the 42-year-old seemed unfazed by the backlash.

“You guys like him… And some of you will be triggered. I don’t care,” she said at the time, defending her right to engage in controversial discussions. “We need to learn how to listen even when we don’t agree.”

Patrick’s latest comments have only added to the growing chorus of concern over her social media activity, with critics accusing her of fueling baseless conspiracy theories at a time when communities in North Carolina need support and compassion. Nevertheless, Patrick remains defiant, encouraging her followers to rethink how they view world events, hinting that she’s unlikely to tone down her outspoken involvement in the country’s political landscape anytime soon.

Amidst her conspiracy-laden takes, Patrick is also an active supporter of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, further entrenching her presence in the political spotlight. With the U.S. election season heating up, it’s clear that the former racing star has no intention of stepping away from the political fray, regardless of the controversy it brings.
