Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a fantastic response on social media regarding the altercation between Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Busch. The NASCAR Cup Series All Star weekend in North Wilkesboro concluded with a highly dramatic moment in the 2024 season. The 2023 Daytona 500 winner threw a punch at the experienced RCR driver during a heated confrontation. This incident marked the first physical altercation between drivers this season in the Cup.
The confrontation between the two drivers was a result of their clash in the first two laps of the race. Stenhouse Jr. squeezed Busch against the outer wall, causing him to make contact on the first lap. In retaliation, the RCR driver wrecked Busch’s Chevy No: 47 on the second lap, resulting in his disqualification from the race.
Stenhouse Jr. stated that the confrontation would not have happened if he had been able to leave the track and go home. However, the track tunnels were sealed, forcing him to wait until the end of the race. This resulted in a buildup of frustration while he sat there feeling helpless.
A NASCAR Hall of Famer responded to the incident in a humorous manner. He jokingly suggested that it would be interesting if NASCAR sealed all the tunnels as they did in NWB via X.
It would be an interesting sight if all the tunnels of these tracks were sealed.
The two-time Xfinity Series champion also shared his thoughts on the race and the repaving of the track. He mentioned that the repaving made the race enjoyable, although there was less action up front. He also expressed his belief that the track deserves a race with more cars.
The race was fun to watch and had its moments. However, I would like to see more competition up front. Nonetheless, the repaved track at @NWBSpeedway is fantastic. It would be great to have a full field of cars on it to challenge the leader with lap traffic. Hopefully, one day it will host a points race.
Earnhardt Jr. played a significant role in bringing the track back to NASCAR, and it is encouraging to see that he is now working to make it a points race. Unless miracles happen in 2025, it is unlikely to occur as the track has already been announced as the host of next season’s All-Star race.
