Dale Earnhardt Jr. Asks Ross Chastain for a Busch Light Throwback in 2025

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has sparked excitement among NASCAR fans with a request for Trackhouse Racing star Ross Chastain: roll out a retro Busch Light paint scheme during the 2025 NASCAR season. The suggestion comes hot on the heels of JR Motorsports signing Chastain for select Xfinity Series races, making fans wonder if Dale Jr. is subtly engineering this nostalgic move.

A Birthday Post Sparks Nostalgia

The idea began when a fan on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) shared a birthday post honoring Pete Silva, a former Busch Series driver. Silva, the first New England native to compete in NASCAR’s Late Model Sportsman ranks, had a distinctive Busch Light-sponsored No. 1 car. Dale Jr. couldn’t resist the opportunity to pitch the throwback idea to Chastain, whose current car number and sponsor align perfectly with Silva’s.

“The next @RossChastain throwback please,” Dale Jr. replied, tagging Chastain and igniting a wave of fan enthusiasm. The annual Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, known for its throwback paint schemes, would be the ideal venue for this tribute.

A Legacy of Busch Light and Nostalgia

Anheuser-Busch has been a cornerstone of NASCAR sponsorship, forming iconic partnerships with drivers like Kevin Harvick, whose Busch Light car became a fan favorite. After Harvick’s retirement, Busch Light aligned with Chastain, continuing the brand’s presence in the Cup Series.

Dale Jr. shares a personal connection with Anheuser-Busch, having been sponsored by Budweiser during his early career. The revival of his Bud 8 Chevy car for special events in recent years has only deepened this bond. Fans believe this history gives Dale Jr. the clout to help push the Busch Light throwback scheme forward.

One fan even encouraged him, saying, “Come on, Dale, use your pull with @AnheuserBusch to make it happen.”

A Collaboration in the Making?

While Dale Jr.’s request might seem casual, his influence in the sport suggests there could be more to this than meets the eye. The timing is intriguing: JR Motorsports recently announced Chastain’s return to the Xfinity Series for select races, deepening their connection. With Dale Jr.’s love for nostalgia and his knack for bringing fans and sponsors together, the throwback scheme could become a reality.

Fans have taken to social media to discuss the possibility, praising the idea and speculating about how Chastain might adapt Silva’s classic design for modern NASCAR. One fan noted, “It’s not just a paint scheme; it’s a tribute to the roots of NASCAR.”

A Win-Win for Fans and Sponsors

A Busch Light throwback scheme would be a fitting tribute to NASCAR’s history while showcasing Chastain’s role as one of the sport’s rising stars. It would also strengthen Anheuser-Busch’s ties to the sport, celebrating their legacy while reaching new fans. For Dale Jr., it would be another example of his ability to bridge NASCAR’s past and present.

Will It Happen?

Throwback schemes require significant planning, and with the 2025 season already underway, teams typically lock in designs well in advance of the Southern 500. However, Dale Jr.’s public pitch has undoubtedly stirred interest, and with his influence and Chastain’s popularity, the stars could align for this nostalgic tribute.

For now, fans will have to wait and see if Chastain takes up Dale Jr.’s challenge. One thing is certain: if this throwback scheme comes to life, it will be a highlight of the season, blending history, fandom, and the thrill of NASCAR.
