Dale Earnhardt Jr. discusses Kyle Busch’s recent comments.
The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has not gone according to plan for Kyle Busch. He entered the season hoping for redemption after a disappointing second half in his debut season with Richard Childress Racing last year. Busch had three wins in the first part of 2023, but then experienced a drop in performance.
As his poor performance continues, Kyle Busch is indicating that he may want to leave RCR. He admitted last week in Iowa that he is open to returning to JGR or HMS in the future, which received criticism from former drivers like Kevin Harvick. Now, Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has highlighted how the NASCAR media is sensationalizing these comments from the veteran driver.
Earnhardt Jr. pointed out that other NASCAR drivers do not face the same level of scrutiny in the press room as Busch. He believes that the media focuses on Busch because of his explosive temper and the fact that the driver of the No. 8 Chevy easily gets irritated with such questions compared to other drivers.
In a previous podcast, Earnhardt Jr. emphasized that Busch will continue to face increasing pressure from the media, and although he may not want to get involved in the drama, Busch will inevitably get involved. This will lead to unintended consequences in his comments.
Earnhardt Jr. makes a valid point that the media puts more pressure on Busch, but this is not only because of his explosive temper. It is also because Kyle Busch is one of those drivers who freely expresses his opinions. It will be interesting to see what comments Busch will make if RCR’s performance continues to decline.
