Strong emotions at Dakar 2024 in SSV. This Thursday, Jérôme de Sadeleer was the winner of the 11th stage, finishing less than three minutes behind the overall leader at the start of the final stage.
The Swiss driver, in an MMP BRP, surpassed Gerard Farres Guell (South Racing Can-Am) by just two seconds, while Cristiano Batista (South Racing Can-Am) finished third, 4m51s behind. Xavier de Soultrait (Sébastien Loeb Racing Bardahl Team/Polaris), who leads the standings, finished fourth, losing 10m53s to de Sadeleer. João Ferreira (Can-Am Factory Team) achieved the fifth best time. Sara Price (South Racing Can-Am) had setbacks after yesterday’s victory and is now out of contention for the podium after the 11th stage.
De Soultrait started the stage with a lead of over 20 minutes and only lost 10m53s to de Sadeleer. Nevertheless, the Swiss driver moved up to second place and is only 2m49s behind. This can be explained by a 10m00s penalty imposed on the current overall leader, which leaves everything open on the final day. Yasir Seaidan (MMP/BRP) moved up to third place, but is already over an hour behind the two rivals ahead of him. Price dropped to fourth place, and the fifth place is still held by the Portuguese duo Ferreira/Filipe Palmeiro. The fourth place is less than 12 minutes away.
