Aston Martin reveals that Jak Crawford will have his first experience testing a Formula 1 car next week, when he will try out the AMR22 at the Red Bull Ring circuit.
Crawford left the Red Bull program at the end of the previous season, after spending four years with them, and was subsequently recruited for the Aston Martin Young Driver Development initiative.
The 18-year-old American has been balancing his role with Aston Martin alongside his second year in Formula 2, where he has achieved a podium and currently sits in 11th place in the championship standings.
Earlier this month, Crawford took part in a Formula E test in Berlin and will now have the opportunity to drive a Formula 1 car with ground effect in Austria.
“Being able to test with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team is more than just a dream come true; it represents a significant and exciting milestone in my motorsport journey,” he expressed.
“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to drive an F1 car, learn from the team, and push myself even further.
“I would like to express my immense gratitude to the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team for believing in me and providing me with this chance.
“I am looking forward to hitting the track in Austria on June 5th.”
