The team boss, James Vowles, has already secured Alex Albon until the end of 2026 and is implementing significant changes to improve the team’s performance.
Sky Sports F1 journalist, Craig Slater, recently shared information about Carlos Sainz’s likely destination for the 2025 season.
The 29-year-old driver has several options available, with Slater indicating that well-informed individuals believe Williams to be the most attractive opportunity for Sainz.
The team boss, James Vowles, has already secured Alex Albon until the end of 2026 and is implementing significant changes to improve the team’s performance.
The signing of Sainz could boost the Grove-based team in the rankings.
“Well-informed individuals believe that Williams is the most attractive option for Carlos Sainz in 2025,” said Slater.
While driver pairings rarely determine a team’s progress, they can influence development.
In Formula 1, the financial contributions of drivers are becoming less crucial due to increased sponsorship funds.
Currently, the Williams duo of Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant is under scrutiny.
Sargeant has yet to finish in the top ten, although he was elevated to the points in the Austin race in 2023 after disqualifications.
Williams is evaluating its options, with Sainz at the top of the list. Sainz’s camp has been impressed with Williams’ negotiations, and a satisfactory contract offer is reportedly on the table.
Slater commented on the F1 driver market: “Well, the significant question is what will Carlos Sainz do now? I believe he has been aware for at least a week or two that this seat was not available to him.
He has the choice to be the main driver at Audi’s entry into Formula 1, which is currently known as Sauber, but will be a major factory team for the Volkswagen Group, or Williams.
Williams had not been strongly linked to him until the last two or three weeks, but some well-informed people are telling me that the team seems to be a more attractive opportunity for him now than this prospect of Sauber.
It is well managed by James Vowles and will have Mercedes engines in the car from 2026. Sainz had the experience of joining a manufacturer and it didn’t work out very well, so let’s wait and see.
“There is no reason for him to delay his decision now, you would expect to hear it soon.”
Although Eddie Jordan suggested Aston Martin, it is unlikely that Lawrence Stroll will replace his son Lance.
Mercedes and other teams like Alpine and Haas are not on Sainz’s radar, making Williams his likely fifth F1 team in 2025.
