COWBOYS EYE EX-$90 MILLION COACH: SHOCKING MOVE

Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones is on the hunt for a new defensive coordinator and he’s looking to make a big splash. According to Sports Illustrated’s Mike Fisher, Jones wants to make a “home run hire” to replace Dan Quinn. One anonymous owner described Jones’ approach as swinging for the fences. And it seems like landing former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll would be the ultimate home run. Carroll, who has won titles in both college football and the NFL, recently left Seattle under unclear circumstances. While he currently has an advisory role with the Seahawks, he has expressed a desire to return to coaching. Carroll was one of the top head coaches in 2023 and had a lucrative contract that paid him $15 million a year. Despite the high salary, Fisher suggests that Carroll could be a potential candidate for the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator position if Jones is truly aiming for a home run hire. Hiring Carroll would be a bold move that could bring back memories of the successful Cowboys teams of the 90s.

Carroll’s Surprising Move: From Head Coach to Coordinator

In a shocking turn of events, Pete Carroll, the renowned head coach, is considering a demotion to become a coordinator. Many are left wondering why Carroll would want to take such a step back in his career. After all, he has had decades of success as a head coach, making it hard to fathom why he would risk it all.

Even if the Dallas Cowboys, the team he would potentially join, continued to excel under his guidance, Carroll’s stock may not rise any higher. On the other hand, if the unit fails to perform well, it could tarnish Carroll’s chances of landing another head coaching position in the future. It’s a gamble that seems to defy logic.

However, there may be a method to Carroll’s madness. It is possible that he is eager to continue coaching, even if it means relinquishing his role as the one in charge. With Mike McCarthy’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Carroll could be positioning himself for a potential head coaching promotion in 2025.

When asked about his future plans, Carroll remained open but cautious. He expressed his willingness and energy to continue coaching, but acknowledged the challenge of finding the right opportunity. In an interview with Seattle Sports’ “Brock and Salk,” Carroll stated, “I’m open to everything but I’m not holding my breath on that. There’s a lot of world out there, and I’m excited about challenging and going after it.”

Only time will tell if Carroll’s surprising move pays off. As he explores new possibilities, the football world eagerly awaits his next chapter.
