COWBOYS CUT CANDIDATE POTENTIAL ‘STEAL’ OF 2024 OFFSEASON

In a shocking turn of events, Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has found himself in the hot seat. Rumors of tension within the team have been swirling, and now it seems that McCarthy’s job may be on the line. The pressure is mounting as the Cowboys struggle to find their footing this season.

It’s no secret that the Cowboys have been underperforming. With a string of disappointing losses, fans are growing increasingly frustrated. McCarthy’s questionable coaching decisions have come under scrutiny, and many are wondering if he is the right person to lead the team.

But it’s not just the fans who are losing faith in McCarthy. Reports have emerged of tension between the coach and some of the players. It seems that there is a lack of trust and communication within the team, which is only adding to their struggles on the field.

As the losses continue to pile up, the pressure on McCarthy is reaching a boiling point. The Cowboys organization is known for its high expectations, and anything less than a winning season is considered a failure. McCarthy knows that his job is on the line, and he must find a way to turn things around quickly.

The upcoming games will be crucial for McCarthy’s future with the Cowboys. If he can rally the team and start stringing together some wins, he may be able to save his job. But if the losses continue, it’s only a matter of time before the Cowboys make a change at the head coaching position.

It’s a make-or-break moment for McCarthy and the Cowboys. The fate of the team hangs in the balance, and all eyes are on the head coach. Will he be able to rise to the challenge and lead the Cowboys to victory? Only time will tell.

The Dallas Cowboys are set to make major changes in the 2024 offseason, but they need to be cautious about how much they trim. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks had a decent first season in Dallas and is still highly valued. According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, Cooks is listed as one of the potential “steals” of the upcoming offseason. The Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans are named as potential landing spots for him.

Cooks had a solid season in 2023, finishing with 54 catches for 657 yards and eight touchdowns. However, his $10 million cap hit is a concern for the Cowboys, who are projected to be $14.3 million over the cap. Releasing or trading Cooks with a post-June 1 designation would save the team $8 million in cap space. He would be a good fit for any team lacking established receiver depth, especially rebuilding franchises that could benefit from his veteran leadership.

While Cooks may cost more than projected, he is still a solid player. The Cowboys acquired him in 2023 when he was approaching his 30th birthday and had previously surpassed 1000 receiving yards in 2021. They hoped he could replicate those numbers and improve their receiver group. Although he didn’t meet those expectations, Cooks still had a respectable season, averaging 12.2 yards per catch and making catches 66.7% of the time. He also developed a redzone connection with QB Dak Prescott, finishing second on the team in receiving touchdowns.

Cooks may not be as explosive as he once was, but his consistency and skills should not be overlooked. While it may make financial sense to trade or release him, it should not be based solely on his performances. If the Cowboys do decide to move on from Cooks, a trade would be the ideal scenario. They originally gave up a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick for him, so recouping some of that would be good business.

One trade proposal suggests that the Cowboys could potentially receive a fifth-round pick from the Cleveland Browns in return for Cooks. However, the Cowboys should not be too picky about the trade destination or the return they receive. Given Cooks’ expensive contract, they lack significant bargaining power. Additionally, the Browns are not a direct rival, making them a suitable trade partner.
